command Thy destroying Angel to pass over the houses of Thy people Israel, when he should see the blood of the Paschal Lamb sprinkled upon the doorposts; Have respect, we beseech Thee, unto the blood of the true Paschal Lamb who hath been sacrificed for us; and vouchsafe to bestow Thy heavenly benediction and the assurance of Thy mercy, which in His Name, and for His merits, we humbly implore. Let no evil come nigh unto these Thy servants, nor unto this house in which they are about to dwell. May Thy holy angels, who wait upon the heirs of salvation, watch over and defend this house and all who shall inhabit it. May peace and virtue, health and purity, humility and chastity, goodness and gentleness, praise and thanksgiving, continually abound herein; that so Thy blessing, which Thou waitest to bestow, may never depart from this household, even unto eternal life: through Jesus Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

ORD GOD of our salvation, Son of the Living

Lood, Lord of all power and might, who ridest

upon the Cherubim, and rulest over all things visible and invisible; who through the glorious mystery of Thine Incarnation hast taken part with us, and in our nature hast overcome Satan and scattered all the powers of darkness; Do Thou, through the victory obtained through Thy cross, expel and put away from this house all presence and power of Satan, and of every evil spirit; and shield and defend all who shall abide in it from all devices and contagion of evil, and from all invisible and spiritual enemies. Lift up these Thy servants continually, that they may abide with Thee in heavenly places, where the powers of evil can neither injure

nor oppress them. Of Thine infinite mercy deliver this Thy family from the terror by night and from the arrow that flieth by day; from the pestilence that walketh in darkness, and from the destruction that wasteth at noon-day: that Thy servant and all his household [with the little children], leaning upon Thine aid, comforted by Thy heavenly grace, and guarded by Thine Angels, may together in faith, in unity of heart, and with one mouth, sing unto Thee.

Here those present shall repeat with the Priest,

HE Lord is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation. In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me. I will fear no evil, for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.

FOR

Then the Priest alone,

OR Thou art the Lord our Shield and our Defence, strong and mighty, Prince of Peace, Father of the age to come: and Thine alone is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, even Thine alone, O God, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, now and for evermore.

R. Amen.

Let us pray.

LORD our God, who hast shown great mercy unto us Thy sinful and unworthy servants, upon whom Thy holy Name is called; Put us not to shame for our hope in Thy mercy: but grant us, Lord, these our petitions for salvation, and count us worthy to love and fear Thee with all our hearts, and to do in all things Thy most holy will. For Thou, O God, art good, and lovest all mankind. And to Thee we ascribe all glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost, now and for

evermore.

R. Amen.

BENEDICTION OF A CHAMBER-LODGING.

¶ This service shall commence with the Introductory Collect, "Prevent us, O Lord, in all our doings, &c." Then the Versicles and Responses, and the Collect which follows, "O Holy Lord, Father Almighty, Eternal God, &c.,” substituting the word "chamber"

for "house" and "these thy servants" for "this household;" or, where necessary, the singular for the plural number. Then shall follow the Benediction, substituting "chamber" for "house" and "in it" for "under this roof." After which the concluding Collect, "O Lord our God, who hast shown, &c.," and "The grace of our Lord, &c."

Prayer and Benediction when a Wessel is about to leave Port.

[Note. When this Form, or the whole of it, cannot be conveniently used on board the Ship, the Prayer and Benediction, (altered accordingly), without the Versicles, Lesson, or Psalms, may, at the request, and in the presence of the owner or other person interested, or of the chief officer, be used either on board the Ship, or on land in a Church or Oratory.]

The Priest, habited in surplice and stole, and standing in any appropriate part of the Ship, shall say,

EACE be with all those that love our
Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity.

Bless, O Lord, them that fear Thee, and that hope in Thy mercy. Send

them help from Thy sanctuary, and strengthen them out of Thy holy dwelling-place.

Let us pray.

REVENT us, O Lord, in all our doings, with

with Thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended in Thee, we may glorify Thy holy Name, and finally by Thy mercy attain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

The Psalm [Ps. cvii. 21-31].

H that men would praise the Lord for His

children of men!

And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.

They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters;

These see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep.

For He commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof.

They mount up to the heaven, they go down again to the depths: their soul is melted because of trouble.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wit's end.

Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and He bringeth them out of their distresses.

He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still.

Then are they glad because they be quiet; so He bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Oh that men would praise the Lord for His good
