The ordained Angel still kneeling, the following
Anthem shall be sung [Ps. cxxxiii.]:

EHOLD, how good and how pleasant it is:
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that
ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard:
That went down to the skirts of his garments;
As the dew of Hermon:

And as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion:

For there the Lord commanded the blessing:
Even life for evermore.

Glory, &c.

The newly-ordained and the other two Angels shall return to their seats, and the Service shall continue.

In the Preface.

art one God, and one Lord.

For Thou art the glory of all those, who in their several orders minister to Thy praise. Of old Thou didst show unto Thy servant Moses, in secret council on the Holy Mount, the pattern of heavenly things, commanding that he should make for Aaron, Thine elect high-priest, holy garments for glory and for beauty, setting forth the blessed mysteries of Thy kingdom in types and figures; but we receive more certain knowledge, not through shadows of the truth, but in the experience of the things themselves. By the mystic ornaments employed in consecrating the former priesthood, Thou didst foreshow the ordinances of the heavenly kingdom, and the graces of the spiritual and heavenly mind; All that was signified by splendid garments—the breast-plate

and the mitre, enriched with gold and precious stones and wrought with cunning workmanship— Thou dost now bestow on those whom Thou admittest to the higher ministries in Thy house; that the mighty powers of the world to come may be exercised by them, and that those heavenly virtues may shine forth in all their conversation. Therefore dost Thou invest them with spiritual glory, and sanctify them with the effusion of Thy heavenly anointing. Wherefore we magnify and praise Thee, mighty God, &c.

In the Prayer of Oblation (after Consecration).

our prayers. Especially for this Thy servant, whom Thou hast vouchsafed to call and ordain an Angel, a Ruler, and an Overseer, in Thy Church; beseeching Thee to continue unto him Thy gifts this day bestowed upon him, and to accomplish in him all Thy will. O Thou, who art the Author of all sanctity, who alone dost truly consecrate and fully bless; Send down Thy blessing upon Thy servant, and endue him with the Holy Ghost, that with all authority, gravity, and meekness, he may fulfil his office; with long-suffering and doctrine he may reprove, rebuke, beseech, and convince; and may be to all who believe a good example, in word, in conversation, in love, in faith, in chastity, and in purity; that faithfully fulfilling his course, he may at length receive that crown of righteousness, unfading, laid up for him by the Lord, the righteous Judge.

R. Amen.

At the Communion, the Apostle, after receiving, shall administer to the Ministers with him, then to the two Angels, and then to the newly-ordained Angel. After

which, the newly-ordained shall receive the holy Vessels, and shall administer to the Priests and Deacons present.

T The Communion Anthem.

HEARD the voice of many angels:

Round about the throne;

Their number was ten thousand times ten thousand:

And thousands of thousands;

Saying with a loud voice:

Worthy is the Lamb that was slain,

To receive power, and riches, and wisdom:
And strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

Additional Post-Communion Prayer.

RANT, O Lord, we beseech Thee, that the seal of Thy divine sacrament may be effectual to confirm and strengthen in us Thy heavenly grace; and that we, who have partaken of this life-giving meat, may always bear about in our body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in us. Hear us, we beseech Thee, for the sake of the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, O Father, and with the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end, R. Amen.

Order of Inducting an Drdained Angel into the Charge of a Particular Church.

At the time appointed, all the Priests and Ministers of the Church being in their places, the Apostle and the Ministers with him shall go to their places in the sanctuary, the Elect Angel taking his seat in a place to be provided in front of the Priests' stalls. Apostle shall say the following Collect:

Let us pray.

The

REVENT us, O Lord, in all our doings with Thy most gracious favour, and further us with Thy continual help; that in all our works begun, continued, and ended, in Thee, we may glorify Thy holy Name, and finally by Thy mercy attain everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

R. Amen.

¶ The Psalm [Ps. Ixxvii.].

The Lesson [Revelation i. 10-20].

After the Lesson the Apostle shall address the
Congregation as follows:

EARLY beloved,

DE

The Apostles of the Lord, purposing for your benefit, and for the advantage of the whole Church,

that M. N., now present, an ordained Angel [or, who hath now been ordained an Angel], shall be set as Angel of this Church and congregation; and being assured, after full inquiry and deliberation, both that the said M. N. is able and willing, and in all respects fitted, to take upon him this office; and also that this Church and congregation are prepared with ready and willing hearts to accept him, as God's gift to them, have given their full authority that, after receiving from the said M. N. in your presence his solemn vow and engagement to take upon him this charge, and receiving from you also your solemn vow and engagement to receive, honour, and submit yourselves unto him, in the Lord, I should proceed to set and establish him in the Name of the Lord in the place of Angel of this Church.

Then, by the direction of the Apostle, the Letters of Authority of the Apostles designating the Angel shall be read, all present standing to hear the same. which the Apostle shall continue:

After

AVING received this authority, I now inquire of thee, my brother in Christ, Art thou willing and ready to take upon thyself the charge of this flock?

R. I am willing, God being my helper.

Wilt thou promise and engage on thy part, on being set as Angel of this Church, to exercise the authority committed unto thee, in the Name and on behalf of our Lord Jesus Christ, in the fear and love of God, according to His commandments, and in subjection to His apostles; to bless this flock with the blessing of God; to be unwearied in approaching to His presence and offering to Him the
