When this is finished, the Ministers having returned to their respective places, and they and the people kneeling (the Apostle and the Ministers with him sitting), the Angel shall arise and pronounce this Benediction upon the people:

HE Lord bless thee, and keep thee; the Lord

TH make His face to shine upon thee, and be

gracious unto thee; the Lord lift up the light of His countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

The blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be with you all.

R. Amen.

Then shall follow the Offertory, &c.

¶ In the Prayer of Oblation (after Consecration).

our prayers. And we especially beseech Thee for this Thy Church and congregation, and for Thy servant whom Thou hast this day constituted to be Thine Angel over them. Bless, we pray Thee, that holy union which we have solemnized in Thy Name this day; and grant that all these Thy servants, abiding faithful to their solemn vow which they have this day severally made in Thy holy fear, may appear in Thy presence, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ, with exceeding joy. R. Amen.

The Communion Anthem.

LESSED is every one that feareth the Lord:
That walketh in His ways.

For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands:
Happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of
thy house:

Thy children like olive plants round about thy table. The Lord shall bless thee out of Zion:

And thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem, all the days of thy life.

Additional Post-Communion Prayer.

RANT, O Lord, we beseech Thee, that the seal of Thy divine sacrament may be effectual to confirm and strengthen in us Thy heavenly grace; and that we, who have partaken of this life-giving meat, may always bear about in our body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in us. Hear us, we beseech Thee, for the sake of the same Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee, O Father, and with the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end. R. Amen.

Order of Sending forth upon his Mission an Angel-Evangelist.

T The Apostle shall commence and proceed with the
Celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

The Gloria in Excelsis shall be sung; after which,
Hallelujah.

The Collect.

BLESSED Lord Jesu Christ, who, after Thou hadst called Thine Apostles, didst appoint other Seventy also, that they might go before Thy face, and proclaim the near approach of Thy kingdom in every city and place whither Thou Thyself wouldst come; We pray Thee to have compassion upon Thy people; and through the faithful ministry of Thine Evangelists bring back unto Thyself all who have wandered from Thy ways; suffer them not to be overtaken by the dreadful day of Thy judgment, but save them, we beseech Thee, among the remnant of the true Israel: to the glory of Thy holy Name, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end.

R. Amen.

The Epistle [2 Tim. iv. 1–5].

"I charge thee before God, &c."

¶The Anthem after the Epistle.

HE Lord gave the word:

Great was the company of those that published it.

Kings of armies did flee apace:

And she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
Though ye have lien among the pots:

Yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

Hallelujah.

The Gospel Luke, x. 1–16].

¶ After the Creed, the Evangelist with the Apostle shall present the Elect Evangelist-to-the-Nations at the foot of the altar. By the direction of the Apostle, the Letters of Authority of the Apostles authorising the choice of the Elect Evangelist shall be read, all present standing to hear the same. The Apostle shall resume his seat, the rest remaining standing, and he shall declare his choice of the Elect Evangelist, directing his formal Letter of choice to be also read. After which, the Apostle shall go up to the altar, and turning round shall say,

LE

ET us pray, my beloved brethren, to God the Father Almighty, that He will vouchsafe unto us His presence, in sending forth this His ordained servant unto the work whereunto he hath been called and chosen.

R. Amen.

OST merciful Lord God Almighty, who hast consecrated this Thy servant to be an Angel in Thy Church, giving him to be a fellow-labourer with Thine Apostles; [Send him forth, we humbly beseech Thee, into Thy vineyard; and] enable him to fulfil the special duties to which, by Thine

Apostles, Thou hast now called him; Endow him with Thine abundant blessing, that he may do the work of an Evangelist in the tribe to which Thou sendest him; and give unto him to dispense Thy blessing unto others. Make him to be a faithful Ruler in Thy hand, in wisdom directing the labours of all Thy servants over whom Thou shalt give him charge. [May Thine anointing abide upon him; that, in going forth unto Thy wandering children, he may ever discern in Thy light between the evil one and the operations of Thy most blessed Spirit. Make him mighty to cast out Satan, to detect his wiles, to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Give him a mouth and wisdom that all his adversaries shall not be able to gainsay or resist]. Grant that, going

forth in meekness of wisdom, he may return unto Thee with abundant fruit of his labours, fulfilled in Thy Name; and, abiding in faith, in holiness, and in love, may he finish his course with joy, and be received unto glory and immortality in Thine Eternal Kingdom, when they that turn many to righteousness shall shine as the stars for ever and ever. Hear us for the sake of Jesus Christ, Thy Son our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee and with the Holy Ghost, ever one God, world without end. R. Amen.

LMIGHTY and most merciful Father, who

[A didst send forth Thine Only-begotten Son

into the world, that He might glorify Thy holy Name and preach the Gospel to the poor; Be present with us, we beseech Thee, and confirm and establish that which we do in Thy Name; vouchsafing unto this Thy servant the abundance of Thy grace, that with all meekness and fidelity he may
