THE HOLY EUCHARIST.

In the Prayer of Oblation (after Consecration).

our prayers. Remembering before Thee at this time especially Thy servant N., whom Thou hast afflicted with grievous sickness. O Thou that art the eternal health of those who trust in Thee, of Thy mercy forgive unto him his sins, assuage his pain, comfort him with Thy consolations in his spirit, and restore him to soundness of body, that he may give thanks unto Thee again in the congregation of Thy saints [and if it be Thy good pleasure to take him from this world of sorrows, let the angel of Thy presence keep him in the hour of death, and may his spirit be received into the arms of Thy mercy, and abide in peace and joy]. Additional Post-Communion Prayer.

RANT, Lord, we beseech Thee, that, by Thy grace through this sacrament, Thy servant, whom we commend unto Thy mercy, may receive renewed health of body, and Thy spiritual joy and comfort in his soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord; Who liveth and reigneth with Thee, O Father, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, ever One God, world without end.

Benediction of Dil for the Anointing

of the Sick.

¶ In the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, immediately before the elements are brought up and placed on the altar, the vessel containing the Oil shall be brought up by the Elder or Elders present to the Angel, and shall be presented by him upon the altar : and then kneeling down at the altar, and the Elders kneeling at the foot of the sanctuary, the Angel shall say this Prayer:

ALMIGHTY GOD, whose blessed Son when He was upon earth, sent forth His disciples to anoint the sick with oil; who hast also instructed us by Thy holy apostle St. James, that the elders of the Church should pray over the sick, anointing them with oil in the Name of the Lord; We beseech Thee to bless this Thy creature of oil, which we present before Thee; and by Thy power make it effectual in the hands of Thy priests, through faith, for the healing of the infirmities of Thy people; so that all those, whom the same Thy ministering servants shall anoint therewith in Thy Name, may, through their effectual fervent prayer, be saved and raised up, and of Thine infinite mercy may receive remission of their sins. Hear us, O merciful Father, for the sake of Jesus Christ our Lord; to whom, with Thee

and the Holy Ghost, One living and true God, be glory for ever and ever.

¶ The blessed Oil shall remain on the altar until after the conclusion of the Sacrament, and shall then be delivered by the Angel to the Elder, that it reverently carried to the Sacristy, and there deposited in the proper place by the Angel.

Uisitation of the Sick.

ADMINISTRATION OF THE HOLY COMMUNION.

The Priest, going with the Deacon, shall take the holy Sacrament reserved for the sick from the place where it is deposited, and kneeling down, shall say the following Prayer:

LMIGHTY GOD, before whom the seraphim veil their faces, and the cherubim fall down and worship; Vouchsafe unto me, Thine unworthy servant and minister, that with fear and reverence I may undertake the holy ministry of Thy house, and carry forth unto the infirm the provision of Thy mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Upon coming into the sick person's room, the Priest shall deposit the holy Sacrament upon a table to be prepared for that purpose, covered with a clean linen cloth, and, both the Priest and the Deacon who shall

accompany him being properly vested, the Priest shall proceed as follows:

LMIGHTY GOD, our heavenly Father, who admittest Thy people unto such wonderful communion, that, partaking by a divine mystery of the body and blood of Thy dear Son, they should dwell in Him and He in them; We unworthy sinners, approaching to Thy presence, do abhor ourselves, and repent in dust and ashes. We have sinned, we have sinned, we have grievously sinned against Thee, in thought, in word, and in deed, provoking most justly Thy wrath and indignation against us. Yet now, most merciful Father, have mercy upon us: for the sake of Jesus Christ forgive us all our sins; and give unto us to serve Thee henceforth in newness of life, to the glory of Thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. LMIGHTY GOD, who hath given His Son Jesus Christ to be the sacrifice and propitiation for the sins of the whole world; Grant unto you for His sake full remission and forgiveness; absolve you from all your sins; and vouchsafe to you His Holy Spirit.

ALMIGHTY GOD, who art the eternal health of all those who put their trust in Thee; Graciously regard Thy servant in his afflic
