"HOWARD MEDAL" ESSAY COMPETITION.

"A statistical study of infantile mortality in
Great Britain and Ireland, and of its causes."

Essays must be sent in on or before the 30th of June, 1909. In addition to the Medal, which is of bronze, a grant of £20 will be made to the successful Competitor.

The Journal is published at the price of five shillings. It is obtainable by the general public
either at the offices of the Society, or through any bookseller. The postage of single copies is
usually threepence, and the subscription to non-Fellows of the Society is one guinea per annum,
post free.
Each Fellow receives one copy of current issues free, and additional copies at
three shillings each.

RULE IV.-Every Candidate for admission as a Fellow of the Society shall be proposed by two or more Fellows, who

shall certify from their personal knowledge of him or of his works that he is a fit person to be admitted a Fellow of the Society. Every such Certificate, having been read and approved of at a Meeting of the Council, shall be suspended in the Office of the Society until the following Ordinary Meeting, at which the Vote shall be taken.
