It was the intention of the Publishers, in undertaking the New Edition of this work, to complete it in Two Volumes, but the additions have been so extensive as to render a Third Volume necessary.

Although this change will occasion great extra expense to the Publishers, there will be no additional charge to SUBSCRIBERS, who will receive the complete Book at £3, the price to which the Publishers pledged themselves in their Prospectus.

All SUBSCRIBERS, therefore, to Volumes I. and II. vill receive Volume III. gratis; but after the Subscribers are supplied, the price of the work will be raised.

Printed by Isaac Iaggard, and Ed. Blount, 1623; and reprinted for Lionel Booth, 307 Regent Street, W., 1862.

This reprint comprises THREE sizes; one to range with all good Octavo Editions of Shakespeare, another to range with Knight's Pictorial and similar Editions, the third being uniform with the Original Folio.

[ocr errors]

The chief object in the reproduction of this, for all critical purposes, the most important edition of Shakespeare extant, has been, not mere resemblance, but that it shall prove "so rarely and exactly wrought -page for page, line for line, word for word, letter for letter, ornamentation for ornamentation -as to be, excepting a more convenient size, "one and the self-same thing" with its prototype. That the attempt has been successful, the testimony of the most important Journals of the time has satisfactorily proved.

PART I. of the smallest size, containing the whole of the COMEDIES, is now ready, in an appropriate binding, after an Elizabethan pattern, price 10s. 6d.

And early in the ensuing year will be published,

PART II. containing the HISTORIES.

To be followed with "safest haste" (As You Like It) by

PART III. containing the TRAGEDIES; each in a similar binding, and at the same price.

Prospectuses and Specimen leaves of the Reprint may be had on application.
