In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Clinton asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend an act incorporating the Chamber of Commerce of the city of NewYork, changing the day of meeting," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on commerce and navigation.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Harpur asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to amend an act entitled 'An act in relation to the accounts of town officers," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

On motion of Mr. May,

Resolved, That all the petitions and remonstrances relating to the passage of a prohibitory iiquor law, which were presented to the last Legislature, be taken from the files and referred to the select committee having this subject now under consideration.

On motion of Mr. A. A. Dunlop,

Resolved, That the papers on file relative to the claim of Talcott, Hale and Garritson, be taken from the files and referred to the committee on grievances.

On motion of Mr. Benedict,

Resolved, That the papers and documents in relation to the claim of Peter Clougher, be taken from the files of this House, and referred to the committee on claims.

Mr. S. Baldwin offered for the consideration of the House, a resolution in the words following, to wit:

Resolved, That in addition to the usual number of the report of the Inspectors of State Prisons, there be printed one thousand copies for the use of said Inspectors.

Ordered, That said resolution be referred to the committee on public printing.

The House then, in committee of the whole, proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished business of yesterday, being the annual message of the Governor.

After some time spent thereon,

Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Lozier, from said committee, reported progress and asked and obtained leave to sit again. The House then proceeded, in committee of the whole, to the consideration of the bill entitled "An act to correct the assessment roll, and for the equalization and collection of taxes in the town of Jerusalem, in the county of Yates."

After some time spent thereon,

Mr. Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Hall, from said committee, reported that the committee had gone through said bill, and agreed to the same without amendment, which report was agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be engrossed for a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled "An act for the relief of the Laight

street Baptist Church, in the city of New-York," was read a third time.

Mr. Speaker put the question whether the House would agree to the final passage of said bill, and it was determined in the affirmative, a majority of all the members elected to the Assembly voting in favor thereof, as follows:

Mr. Peters gave notice that, at some early day, he would ask leave to introduce a bill for a more efficient organization of the State prisons.

Mr. Crocheron gave notice that he would, at some future day, ask leave to introduce a bill for the relief of the Port Richmond and Fresh Kill Plank Road Company.

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Backus asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to alter the Commissioners' map of the city of Brooklyn," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the incorporation of cities and villages.

On motion of Mr. Backus,

Resolved, That the papers relative to the application for the opening of Hamilton-street, in the city of Brooklyn, be taken from the files and referred to the committee having in charge the bill to alter the Commissioners' map of the city of Brooklyn. Mr. Speaker announced the following standing committees, to
