Of the Joint Committee of the Senate and Assembly appointed to examine the accounts of the Treasurer, and the Canal and Banking Departments.

REPORT.

TO THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW-YORK.

The joint committee of the Senate and Assembly, appointed under the act entitled "An act relating to the examination of the Treasurer's accounts, and the Canal and Banking Departments," passed May 25, 1841, having made such examination as the law requires, report the result of their investigations to the Legislature.

First. The committee have examined the accounts and vouchers relating to all moneys received into and paid out of the Treasury, during the year ending on the 30th day of September, 1845, and do certify and

REPORT:

That there was in the Treasury at the close of the fiscal year ending the 30th September, 1844, as appears by the certificate of the last joint committee, dated December 31st, 1844, and also as appears by the certificate of the Comptroller, dated December 8th, 1845, the sum of ninety-nine thousand seven hundred and thirty-seven dollars and twenty-six cents,.

During the fiscal year ending September 30th, 1845, there was paid into the Treasury from all sources, as appears by the Treasurer's books and the certificate of the Comptroller, the sum of four millions nine hundred and thirty-three thousand seventyseven dollars and two cents,

Making in all the sum of five millions thirty-two thousand eight hundred and fourteen dollars and twenty-eight cents,

During the fiscal year ending 30th September, 1845, there was drawn from the Treasury, by virtue of warrants of the Comptroller, the sum of four millions cight hundred eighty-six thousand four hundred and ninety-three dollars and thirty-one cents,

Leaving in the Treasury, at the close of the fiscal year ending September 30th, 1845, the sum of one hundred forty-six thousand three hundred and twenty dollars and ninety-seven cents,..........

It appears by the certificate of the Manhattan Bank, dated October 1, 1845, that there was deposited in that bank at the close of the fiscal year ending September 30th, 1845, for the use of the Treasury of the State, the sum of twenty-thousand nine hundred fifty-two dollars and sixty-four cents, $20,952 64

By the certificate of the Comptroller, dated December 8th, 1845, it appears there had been deposited in that bank, but not certified into the Treasury, the sum of eight hundred and eighty dollars and thirty-eight

cents,

Also, that checks numbers 287, 294, 295

and 296 were outstanding at the close of said fiscal year, amounting to eight thousand forty-nine dollars and three cents,

Leaving in said bank, to the credit of the Treasurer, at the close of said fiscal year, the sum of twelve thousand twenty-three dollars and twenty-three cents, .... Carried forward,
