PREFACE. HESE addresses were delivered on a succession of Sundays in the Church of St. James, Marylebone. They took the place of sermons in a series of services entitled "Sunday Evenings for the People." They were reported in shorthand, revised by the author, and are now issued in accordance. with a very general request.
