We have feen what will be the state of the damned. We come now to speak of the bleed ness of those that dre in the Lord, i. e. in the fa vour of God, in ftate of peace with him, being members of Chifts mystical body. When they die, their fouls are carried by Angels to Chrift, ind by him prefented to God the Father, as the Fit of his purchafe. Chap.:: prepared for you, from the foundation of the w Matth.25.34. Which done, they shall go a into life eternal, as it is, v.46.

The Glory and Blessednesse of this flate, " come now to enquire into, and there are t things wherein it confifts.

1. In a total removal of all evils.

2. In a confluence of all good, neceffary to the happineffe of the Greature.

Firft, Allevils are removed. There are three great evils we labour under here 1. The evil of fin.

2. Of temptation.

3. Of affliction. None of which shall trouble the Saints in Heaven.

1. The evil of fin is there removed. Sis the great evil the children of God complaint with fo much fadneffe in this world, Heedle Spirit lufteth against the flesh, and the flebrat the Spirit, but in Heaven there fhall be fi Lufts to war against the foul. Paul fhall not there complain of a law in his members rebelling aga the law of his mind: Nor cry out, oh wife man that I am who fhall deliver me from the bes of this death, Rom.7. There shall be noblins; in the mind, perverfenele in the will, difordo's the affections, no concupifcence in the member no rebellion in the flesh, the old Adam is left: the grave, never tarife more. The dominies fin the Saints are delivered from in this life, b

there the very being of it is removed. Grace weakens fin, Glory quite abolifheth it. Into Heaven nothing enters that defiles. There we fhall be under an happy impoffibility of offending God.

2. The evil of temptation. The world is a place of fnares, a valley of temptations, the devils circuit. What abundance of temptations are we affaulted with here continually, either from the Devil, the world, or our own corrupt Natures? In Paradife there was a tempter, but there is none in Heaven. No Serpent can creep in there. Here we had need pray continually, Lord lead us not into temptation: There we shall be fully delivered from it.

3. The evil of affliction. In Heaven, there is an abfolute freedom from all mifery, pain, la"bour, want, or whatever else might afflictus, All forrow fhall be done away, as well as all fin. Sorrow is the fruit of fin, and when the mother is dead,no more off-fpring can be expected. What foever is painful, and burdenfom to Nature is a fruit of fin, and a brand, and mark of our rebellion against God. Here we are subject to a number of neceffities, hunger, thirst, cold, wants of feveral forts. In Heaven the children of God Thall enjoy perfect freedom from whatsoever is troublefem Grief fear, temptation, ficknesse, pain of body, anguish of mind, fhall be heard of no more for ever. When the Saints are once Sf 3

past death, they are past the fear of all mifery, When their bodies are once lapt up in their wisd ing beets, they are paft all tribulation. Heaven is a happy ayre, where none are fick. There is no fuch thing as agues, feavers, gouts, or the ! grinding paines of the Stone. There is nothing to 1 difcompafe the mind, or afflict the body. The Saints hall there be freed from the neceffuties of Nature fuch as eating, drinking, fleeping, &c. Meat is for the belly, and the belly for meas, but God fhall destroy both it and them, 1 Cor.6. 2. The ufe of meats, and of the ftomack and belly is there abolished Here we are almoft continually in want of fomething or other, but there we hall be above meat and drink and apparrel, &c. Here we have a mixture of pleasures and ferreas; (both good and evil are to be received from the hand of God in this life) but there is fulness of joy for evermore. I hall conclude this, with the comfortable place, Rev. 21.4. And God f wipe away all tears from their eyes, & there ball b no more death, neither forrow, nor crying, neither Shall there be any more pain, for the former thing: are passed away.

Secondly, A Second thing wherein the bleed ne of Heaven confifts, is in a confluence of 1 good neceßary to the bappiness of the Creature, Ite Saints in Heaven will be bleffed,

1. In their bodies.
2. In their foules.

In their Company,

In an abfolute fecurity of enjoying all this dneß for ever, without any fear of losing it, ng deprived of it.

They will be blessed in their bodies. The bee even of the best of the Saints are for the previle bodies, inftruments of fin, and fubjects feafes; but the Lord Fefus Chrift fhall at the of judgment raife thefe vile bodies, and ge them into the likenesse of his own glorious.

Phil.3.20,21. The bodies of the Saints are members of Chrift, and no member of his remain in death. They are the Temples of holy Ghost and therefore if they be destroy'd,

hall be raised again. For if the Spirit of shat raifed up fefus from the dead, dwell in us he doth in the Saints, and by fo dwelling, kes their bodies Temples ) he that raised up ift from the dead, shall alfo quicken our mortal Pies by his Spirit that dwelleth in us, Rom.8.11.1 e Holy Ghost will not forfake his manfion and tient habitation. Therefore he raifethit up » dformeth it again into a compleat fashion, te Chrifts glorious body. The bodies of the ints when dead, and separated from their fouls, not feparated from Chrift, as we fhewed bere: And therefore are faid to be dead in Chrift, fleep in Fefus, as 'tis, 1 The 4.14. While ad, they are united to Christ, and by vertue this Union, Chrift as their Head, will raife, ·S£4
