form no necessary part of public worship, it has not been thought proper to insert any other creed in the present Liturgy. It will be sufficiently obvious, that they who use this Liturgy, are worshipers of the One GOD, even the Father, "through the one mediator between God and man, the MAN CHRIST JESUS." 1 Tim. ii. 5.

In general, the Editors have faithfully adhered to the language of the Common Prayer; and have only substituted a word or a phrase here and there in the place of an obsolete expression, or of one which might convey an erroneous idea.

POSTSCRIPT.

SINCE the publication of the former Edition, the Liturgy then offered to the public has been adopted at the Chapel in Essex-Street, London, with the variation of only a few words in two sentences of the Te Deum, and the addition of the Gloria Patri to be used optionally instead of the Doxology in the former Edition. The present Edition is an exact copy of the Liturgy now used at the Chapel in Essex-Street.

THE ORDER

FOR

MORNING PRAYER,

EVERY LORD'S DAY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR.

The same to be used, with the proper Collects, upon CHRISTMAS-DAY, GOOD-FRIDAY, EASTER-DAY, and WHITSUNDAY.

¶ At the beginning of Morning Prayer, the Minister shall read some one or more of these sentences of the Scriptures that follow; and then he shall say that which is written after the said sentences: the Minister and Congregation standing.

HEN the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive. Ezek. xviii. 27.

Let the wicked forsake his way, and

the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah lv. 7.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Psalm li. 17. Rend your heart and not your garments; and turn unto the LORD your God for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel ii. 13.

To the LORD our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled against him, neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in his laws which he hath set before us. Dan. ix. 9, 10.

Enter not into judgement with thy servants, O LORD; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified. Psalm cxliii. 2.

The hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth : for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John iv. 23, 24.
