Compensation of Public Officers, [Established by the Act of December 14, 1843.] The following officers of the Government, who may be elected or appointed after the passage of said Act, are allowed annually the following salaries and compensation, to-wit: and for clerk hire, 300 No allowance is made for clerk hire, but the Secretary receives $200 for enrolling all the Acts of the General Assembly. Treasurer of the State, No allowance is made the clerk hire. State Librarian, Gen'l Superintendent of Wabash and Erie Canal, payable one half 1,000 each from east and west divisions, formerly, per annum. May employ assistants, if necessary, at not exceeding $500 per annum each.
