DIRECTIONS.-To find the number of days, for instance, from 5th June to 5th December. Look for June in the left hand index, following it to the angle indicated by December in the index at the top, the number given is 183.

For different dates in each month, add or subtract the difference of time. For example, the number of days from 5th June to 10th December is required-the difference is 5 days more than to the 5th December, which added to the sum already found to the 5th December, 183, makes the sum desired 188; and so from 5th June to 1st December, the difference is 4 days less, which subtracted from 183, leaves 179 days as the time required.

DAMAGES ON PROTESTED BILLS.

In Indiana. If payable at any place without the United States, ten per cent.; at any place within the United States, out of Indiana, five per cent. Drawers and endorsers are not liable for damages, if paid at maturity, with costs.

In Kentucky. On foreign bills, ten per cent. are allowed, and on inland bills damages are determined by the law of the place. In Ohio. If payable out of the United States, twelve per cent.; within the U. States, and out of the State of Ohio, six per cent.

MERCANTILE TIME TABLE,

For conveniently finding the maturity of Bills and Notes. DIRECTIONS FOR USE.-To find, for example, the maturity of a Note at 90 days, dated June 4th, being the 155th day of the year; add thereto the term of the note and three days of grace, say 93 days, and the total is 248 days, which indicates Friday, the 5th September, as the time.

S in the table designates the Sundays in each month.
