N the English Alphabet there are twentyfix letters divided into vowels and confonants. A a, Bb, C c, &c.

There are fix VOWELS, a, e, i, o, u, y, each of which makes a perfect found of itself.

The meeting of two vowels is a Diphthong, and of three a Triphthong.

The Co SONANTS (fo called from their founding in conjunction with vowels) are divided into Mutes, which cannot be founded alone; viz. b, c, d, g, k, p, q, t, and Semi-vowels, which of themselves give an imperfect found; viz. 1, m, n, r, f, s; the
