Lumber is considered "Dry" when cut and piled four months or over; "Part-seasoned" when cut and piled at least two months; and "Green" when cut and piled less than two months. Cordwood is considered "Dry" when cut and piled at least six months. To ascertain contents in inch measure of a carload of lumber, multiply the length in feet, the width in feet, and the height in inches together; the product will be the number of feet, inch measure. Allowance should be made for waste space in car (if any). |
